Why use blackout fabric for interior curtain?
Blackout vs. Dimout — What’s the Difference?
Many suppliers use the terms interchangeably, but they are not the same. Under PN-EN 14501:2005, a fabric qualifies as dimout if it blocks light at 1,000 lux. A true blackout fabric must remain opaque at 75,000 lux or higher.
Blackout fabrics
- 100%light blocked
- TPU or coating with black layer in the middle
- stiff, softness no good.
Dimout fabrics
- 95% light blocked
- special yarn or black yarn used
- softer than blackout fabric
